The Endocrinological Unit is part of the Department of Internal Medicine. It carries out diagnostics, care and treatment of most forms of endocrinological diseases, of which diabetes is by far the largest part. In connection to that, interdisciplinary treatments are provided by doctors and other staff specialized in endocrinological and nephrological diseases.
The division of Diabetes, Hormone and Kidney Diseases consists of a bed sections for nephrological and internally-medical patients, as well patients with wounds and amputations. There is an integrated endocrinological ambulatory treating patient of type 1 and 2 diabetes and other metabolic disorders, and a wound clinic. The division also consists of a recently renovated and expanded hemodialysis section (providing services for home hemodialysis as well).
